FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Prom ended too soon last year! Why can't we dance until midnight?
County noise ordinances require that the DJ stop playing music at 11pm.

What kind of music will be played?
Our DJ is awesome! He'll be playing a variety of great dance music- pop, country, oldies, classic rock, R&B, Christian, funk...only clean lyrics! There should be something to suit everyone.

Can I request certain songs?
Song requests can be submitted to carolinacapitalhomeschoolprom@gmail.com. The Prom Committe will screen requests and pass them on to the DJ if they pass the "clean & appropriate" test. Also, the DJ can take requests the night of the Prom.

Are parents allowed to stay?
Parents are allowed to stay for the first 30 minutes to take pictures. We then ask parents to leave until pick-up time. The event will be supervised by our chaperones.

Are there couples dances?
Yes, the DJ will play a variety of songs including some slow dances.
Do I have to bring a date?
No. We are planning the prom to be a wonderful, fun night for everyone, whether you are coming alone, with a group of friends, or with a date.

Who can come to the prom?
You can come to the CCHP if you are a homeschool student who is at least 14 years old by May 2th (prom night), and not older than 21. Also, you can come if you are a homeschool alumni (meaning you graduated from your homeschool) who is at least 14 years old and not older than 21. You can also come if you are/were not homeschooled but are the guest of a homeschool student or alum, AND you are also at least 14 years old and not older than 21.

Can my dad escort me to the prom?
That is a very sweet request, but if your dad is older than 21, then he cannot attend prom as your escort.

Is there a dress code?
YES! Please read the Guidelines page to see the Prom Dress Code. Basically, this is a formal, dressy affair, so it is suits or tuxes for guys, and modest long gowns or cocktail dresses for ladies. Anyone arriving in Prom wear that does not meet our Guidelines risks being turned away at the door. That would be horrible.

I am a parent. Can I chaperone the prom?
The chaperones for the CCHP are trusted adults that are chosen early in the planning process. Chaperones pay half price to cover their meal. It is possible that we may need additional chaperones if we have more attendees than expected, so you may send a request with your name and contact information to carolinacapitalhomeschoolprom@gmail.com, and we'll get in touch if we need you.
